Somehow, the main characters, mostly kids, saved the world - several different worlds, to be precise - believably, despite all odds and logic being against them, and retained their humanity and humility while doing so. Most impressive is the skill with which MacHale developed the main characters, right up to the end. MacHale managed to wrap everything up nicely, while throwing in some fantastic plot twists, unexpected complications, and amazing science fiction technological ideas into the fast-paced and exciting conclusion of this very creative epic. I have seen too many otherwise great trilogies end sloppily. #Sylo book 3 seriesToo often, authors of series either run out of gas, plot-wise, or, must scramble to wrap up too many "open" story details as they strive to complete their work.
